Marketing and Communications

The Marketing and Communications team helps frame and shape Maryland’s voice and image to the local, national and global business community by providing the following services:

  • Websites - In addition to maintaining the Commerce website, the team develops content and leads web strategy for business.maryland.gov, our business attraction and resource site. The team also produces feature stories and news content on the News section of the site. 
  • Trade Shows - Working closely with business development teams, Marketing manages Maryland’s presence at several national and international trade shows each year. 
  • Media Relations -  Commerce’s Communications team works to develop press releases and respond to media inquiries. The team also handles all Public Information Act (PIA) requests that are submitted to the department by members of the public.
  • Speechwriting and Speaker Requests - The Department of Commerce’s team members regularly participate as speakers at a variety of events. Here’s how to request a speaker. 
  • Print Publications - Commerce develops marketing collateral, including industry and program one-pagers and brochures, as needed, as well as Commerce's Annual Report. 
  • Newsletters & Email Marketing - A variety of email programs are in place to inform and engage audiences about everything Maryland offers business. Sign up to receive emails here
