Helm Services Inc. to Start Operations in Baltimore City; Will Add 200 New Jobs by 2022

Stripe chooses McHenry Row for new subsidiary’s inaugural location

BALTIMORE, MD (July 31, 2019) – Stripe Inc., a technology company that builds economic infrastructure for the internet, has selected Baltimore City as the inaugural location for Helm Services Inc., its new subsidiary to provide operational support for businesses using Stripe software. Helm will be located in a 44,000-square-foot space at 1215 East Fort Avenue, part of the McHenry Row mixed-use community developed by Mark Sapperstein. The company plans to create 200 full-time jobs in Baltimore over the next three years.

Businesses of every size—from new startups to public companies—use Stripe’s software to accept online payments and run technically sophisticated financial operations in more than 100 countries. Stripe helps companies get started and grow their revenues, and established businesses accelerate into new markets and launch new business models. Hundreds of organizations in Maryland use Stripe, including Chesapeake Conservancy and Huntress Labs.

To assist with project costs, the Maryland Department of Commerce has approved a $600,000 conditional loan through Advantage Maryland, formerly the Maryland Economic Development Assistance Authority and Fund (MEDAAF). Additionally, the Baltimore Development Corporation is providing a $150,000 conditional loan to help the company complete the project.
